Dr.N.G.Baskaran as he is popularly known has been involved in several business activities since 1980 after having served as a medical officer with Ministry of Health.

 He founded a General Practice medical group under the name of Klinik Johor in Masai in 1981 and established more than seven branch clinics in and around Johor Bahru district.

Having been active in politics for more than 14 years with the culmination of contesting in the 1990 General Elections as a DAP Parliamentary candidate in Nibong Tebal, Penang in which he lost very narrowly he left active politics to concentrate on business and public activities.
